Benchmarks

Click to return to the OpenUT homepage

This page will contain detailed benchmarking information for UT on Linux - typical configurations, hardware options and results. Please feel free to contribute.

Demo files

We have a number of demos available, which may be useful for conducting benchmarking tests.

Downloaded demo files (file extension .dem) should be placed into the ut/System directory.

Timing your system

In order to run a timedemo, follow these steps:

  • Disable sound - when the processor is sharing resources between the sound and the graphics, performance will suffer. Do this via the options, or in the UnrealTournament.ini file;
  • Set the MinDesiredFrameRate parameter to 0 - this is set in the options dialog, or the UnrealTournament.ini file;
  • Enter the console and type -
    timedemo 1
    demoplay utbench
     (or substitute the name of the demo you wish to run).

A performance comparison of UT running on Linux and Windows systems with nVidia graphics cards is available from the Evil3D.net site.
